My article on the Atlantic, stressing the importance of U.S.-South Korea alliance, seems to be resonating on both sides of the Pacific. Fred Kempe, President and CEO of the Atlantic Council, has kindly included my article on his weekly newsletter:
That trade threat and Trump’s tweet accusing South Korea’s president of appeasement have unsettled South Koreans less than one would expect. Although South Korean opinion polls show they have one of the lowest rates of regard for Trump in the world, they still reckon “the grownups in the White House will step in,” writes S. Nathan Park in the Atlantic.Trump's Trade "Shipwreck" [Inflection Points by the Atlantic Council]
I am gratified that many of the leaders of both United States and South Korea recognize the importance of the alliance, and the danger that the current U.S. President poses to the alliance.
